Mercury Mercruiser drives

Dry-Sump Six Drive

Innovative 'dry-sump' lubrication system uses one-fifth the quantity of gear oil used in previous models. A precision oiling pump, mounted in the gear housing, sprays a metered portion of oil to lubricate vital internal components. The reduced amount of oil in the sump reduces friction, adding 50 to 80 propshaft horsepower for improved overall boat performance. Forged lower unit gears provide greater strength. Available with HP800SC and HP900SC engines. Upper gear housing allows for quick change of gear ratios. Design features a simplified tie-bar arrangement. Large, heavy-duty universal joint and driveshaft. Input ratings are 1000 hp and up to 1000 foot-pounds of torque. Hydraulic power steering cylinders are designed into the drive unit. Drive-line and plug-in models available. Spacers are available to lower drive unit up to 3 in 1/2 in. increments. Gear Ratios (RH or LH) 1.02:1, 1.24:1, 1.35:1, 1.5:1 or 1.61:1. Transmission required. Huber 1050 Series for the HP80OSC Huber 1330 Series for the HP900SC.

V SSM Drive Specifications

Available with the HP600SC and HP800SC engines. Contains all the qualities and features as The III-A SSM Drive. Larger vertical bearings in the upper housing. Larger driveshaft splines. Larger pinion bearings. Larger propshaft with rear loading, for increased strength. Uses same transom assembly as the Ill-A SSM drive. Input ratings are 750 hp and up To 750 foot-pounds of torque. Overall installation height is 6" shorter than the Ill-A SSM Drive. This allows the engine to be mounted lower in the boat resulting in a better center of gravity. The gearcase is mounted higher on the transom resulting in better performance. Drive-line and plug-in models available. Spacers are available to lower drive unit up to 3 in. in 1 in. increments. Transmission required. Modified Borg-Warner 72C-Hydraulic for HP600SC Huber 1050 Series for HP8OOSC Gear Ratios: (RH or LH) 1:1, 1.18:1, 1.33:1, 1.48:1, or 1.62:1.

III-A SSM Drive Specifications

Available with the HP600SC and HP8OOSC engines. Large driveshaft splines provide greater torsional strength. Large vertical bearings in the upper housing provide increased rigidity for the driven gear and longer life. Large pinion bearings hold lower bevel gears more rigidly resulting in increased bearing life. Large propeller shaft is rear loading for improved shaft contact with the propeller. Input ratings are 750 hp and up to 750 foot-pounds of torque. Extended nose on the gearcase improves water flow and boat handling. Drive-line and plug-in models available. Transmission required. Modified Borg-Warner 72C-Hydraulic for HP600SC. Huber 1050 Series for HP800SC. Counter rotation models available for multi-engine applications. Gear Ratios: (RH or LH) 1:1, 1.18:1, 1.33:1, 1.48:1, or 1.62:1.

Bravo One/Bravo Performance

Standard on HP500, HP500EFI, 500 Bulldog and HP525SC. External gear housing shape, including a smaller diameter torpedo, provides superior hydrodynamic efficiency. Heavy-duty shafts and bearings and state-of-the-art precision forged gears for unmatched durability. Steel cone clutch provides smooth, quiet shifting operation. Exclusive gear lube monitor allows drive unit lubricant to be checked from inside the boat. Power Trim XD cylinders cushion this drive unit on impact of an underwater object and the exclusive hydraulic 'memory system' returns it automatically to the present position. Thru-prop exhaust buries noise underwater for a quiet ride. Iridium/aluminium sacrificial anodes added for improved corrosion resistance. Gear Ratios (RH or LH): 1.36 or 1.50:1
